Camp Lakers 2324

Camp Lakers Celebrated Los Angeles Lakers 75th Anniversary with a Camp Paying Homage to Lakers Roots

Camp Lakers, powered by UCLA Health, was back in action this summer celebrating 75 years of Lakers Basketball. Campers were welcomed on the first day with a re-creation of the NBA combine draft process by showcasing campers' skills. Campers were placed in divisions and teams with historic Lakers era and team names of those eras. All campers were given a reversible Camp Lakers jersey showcasing MPLS and Los Angeles Lakers with a retired Los Angeles Lakers number.

Throughout the week campers were treated to some NBA experience events and special appearances by Los Angeles Lakers & Legends, the Lakers Gaming team, and Laker Girls. Plus, campers had the opportunity to win autographed items, Lakers prizes, and take a picture with the NBA 2020 Championship Trophy!

Our Lakers Legends made special appearances, shared their knowledge based on their own unique experiences, and engaged with the kids for some fun basketball activities. One common theme all Laker Legends shared is the importance of education. Laker Legends emphasized the importance of being a good student in the classroom and on the court!

At the end of the week, campers had the exclusive opportunity to visit UCLA Health Training Center for a Career Day with Lakers staff to learn about the different career opportunities in sports. Campers also had the opportunity to practice on the Los Angeles Lakers and South Bay Lakers court.

Camp Lakers 2023 was a success, with campers walking away with a renewed sense of determination and new tools to continue their growth. Camp Lakers has continued commitment to providing young players with the ultimate Lakers experience. Campers learned to play the Lakers way, honing their basketball skills and discovering the importance of hard work, teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship, on and off the court.
