Ankle Injury Causes Kuzma to Drop Out of World Cup Qualifying

Kyle Kuzma’s run with the 2019 U.S. National Team is over after a left ankle injury forced him to return from Melbourne, Australia, where the team was completing its pre-World Cup exhibitions.

Kuzma performed well in his limited time with Team USA, especially in his last game: an exhibition victory over Australia.

Kuzma scored 12 points against the Boomers, shooting 4-of-5 from 3-point range after working on revamping his shot this summer. He also had a strong night on the defensive side, which has been another area of focus this offseason.

With Kuzma sidelined for Friday’s rematch against Australia, the Americans lost their first game in 13 years. They bounced back to defeat Canada on Monday, and will travel to China this week for the start of the World Cup.
