Russell Sits Due to Sore Knee

D'Angelo Russell missed his first game of the season on Friday, as a sore left knee kept him out of the Lakers' contest against San Antonio.

According to head coach Luke Walton, Russell's knee had been bothering him lately, and he will see a doctor to determine the extent of the issue.

“I’m hopeful it’s not longterm, but honestly don’t know until we get more information," Walton said. "For now, his knee hurts.”

Jose Calderon started in Russell's place, allowing Walton to keep his successful second unit intact.
