Like many interactions these days, it all started with a tweet.
When a fan tweeted D’Angelo Russell about the 2007-08 Houston Rockets being added to the list of classic teams in the NBA 2K video game series, the Lakers rookie responded by claiming that Houston’s seven-time all-star, Tracy McGrady, may have been the greatest player of all-time.
However, Russell’s new teammate, Kobe Bryant, thought the 19-year-old might have been forgetting someone. Perhaps someone with 17 all-star selections, five championships and an MVP trophy.
While Russell was quick to acknowledge his fellow Laker’s claim to the title, Bryant responded with a mission for the purple and gold this season.
And Russell is completely on board with the plan.
