Lakers Draft Workouts: Day Five

Aaron Thomas | SG | Florida State | 6’5 | 195 | Sr.
Though he played only six games in his final year as a Seminole, Thomas contributed a team-best 14.5 points as a sophomore in 2013-14. He was on pace for a similar season early on, averaging 14.8 points in his junior year.

“I just want to show that I can handle the ball, make shots, do what I do and play defense,” Thomas said.

Tyler Haws | SG | BYU | 6’5 | 195 | Sr.
One of college basketball’s top scorers, Haws led the entire NCAA with 776 total points this season. The 2014 West Coast Player of the Year also paced his conference in points per game for each of BYU’s past three campaigns.

“In college I was a scorer,” Haws said. “I scored in lots of different ways: pull-up jumpers in transition; at the free throw line. I feel like my game’s pretty versatile that way and can be of value at the next level.”

Rashad Vaughn SG | UNLV | 6’5 | 199 | Fr.
UNLV’s leading scorer until suffering a season-ending knee injury, Vaughn was still named Mountain West Freshman of the Year despite playing only 23 games. He topped 20 points nine times and 30 points twice, while averaging 17.8.

Richaun Holmes | PF | Bowling Green | 6’10 | 243 | Sr.
The reigning MAC Defensive Player of the Year, Holmes led his conference in defensive rating (92.7) last year, as well as blocks for the past two. On the other end, the First Team All-MAC selection made the most of his shots by leading the conference in field goal percentage (56.3).

“I take a lot of pride in being the last line of defense,” Holmes said. “I don’t want anybody scoring at the rim, especially on me. I just want to be that guy my team can depend on.”

Chris Walker | PF/C | Florida | 6’10 | 208 | So.
Averaging only 14.6 minutes per game, Walker’s stats didn’t draw eyeballs, but his potential might. His 7-foot-1 wingspan and top leaping ability give him the opportunity to evolve at the NBA level.

“I need to show I can run the floor,” Walker said. “I can alter shots, rebound at the perimeter, and I can finish above the rim.”

Keifer Sykes | PG | Green Bay | 5’10.5 | 167 | Sr.
Sykes stuffed the stat sheet for his entire college career, ranking among the Horizon league’s top six in assists for each season, and within the top three in scoring for the past three. The two-time conference Player of the Year, Sykes showed off his athleticism at the NBA Draft Combine by recording the second-highest vertical leap (43.0 inches).

“I played college ball for four years, so I’m just trying to show (NBA teams) a mix of everything,” Sykes said. “My all-around game: rebounding, passing, shooting. I can run a team; leadership. So I’m just trying to show them as much as I can in an hour.”
