2023 NBA Draft: Get to know Keyonte George

Overview
Keyonte George played his only collegiate season at Baylor, where he averaged 15.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.3 3-pointers per game on his way to Big 12 Rookie of the Year honors. George was also an All-Big 12 Second Team and Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection. George scored in double figures in 23 of his 33 games, topping out with 32 points and seven rebounds in a win against West Virginia on Jan. 11. George reached the 20-point mark 11 other times, including in games against Norfolk State (Nov. 11) and Kansas State (Feb. 21) when he rained in a career-high six 3-pointers. As a high-schooler, George was considered a top-10 prospect and a consensus five-star recruit.

Analysis
A true combo guard who could play both backcourt spots in the NBA, George is a bit of a tweener at 6-foot-4, but his athleticism and body control allow him to create space and get his shot off against bigger defenders. George is an excellent scorer off the dribble, capable of getting to the rim with either hand while also using footwork to generate space. George was a hot-and-cold 3-point shooter at Baylor (33.8%), but he shot nearly 80% at the free throw line and projects as a plus floor-spacer at the next level.

Projection
Like most mid-to-late-lottery prospects, George will require some development, but the tools are there for him to develop into a starting-caliber combo guard in the NBA. In a best-case scenario, George could develop into an All-Star-level talent such as Bradley Beal or Jamal Murray.
