Summer League Recap Clippers vs. Kings

In their last opening round game of Summer League play, the Clippers defeated the Sacramento Kings, 83-80, Thursday night at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.

In a contest that saw 18 lead changes and was decided in the final two possessions of play, with the Clippers showing poise down the stretch to secure the win. An aggressive Clippers offense produced a 17 of 25 night from the free throw line while Sacramento took just nine trips to the charity stripe. The team also enjoyed an edge from beyond the arc, shooting 35.7 percent to the Kings’ 26.9 percent. The Clippers forced 20 Kings turnovers, resulting in 16 points on the night.

Amir Coffey led all scorers with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Mfiondu Kabengele finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and went eight of ten from the free throw line. In his first start of Summer League play, David Michineau recorded 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Wenyen Gabriel led the Kings with 18 points, eight points, and four assists. Bryce Brown added 12 points and shot two of three from three-point range.

The Clippers went 3-1 in the opening round of Summer League play. If they finish in the top eight they will move on to the playoff round. If not, they will play one consolation game.
