Clippers and Bumble Advance Empowerment Program For Workplace Equality

Los Angeles, CA – The L.A. Clippers and Bumble have launched a joint Empowerment Program to advance workplace equality. The partnership, which is rooted in the two organizations’ shared principles of gender equality and displayed on Clippers uniforms via the Empowerment Badge, was first announced in March 2018. The empowerment program now includes networking meetups and a content series that shines a spotlight on women Clippers executives. The Clippers are also using Bumble Bizz to source candidates for upcoming summer internships and will hire applicants for positions across the Clippers’ business office this summer.

“Together, we are thrilled to leverage our passionate fan followings to encourage the shared values of diversity, gender equality and equal opportunity,“ said Alex Williamson, chief brand officer at Bumble. “We’re excited to give Bumble Bizz users access to career opportunities with the Clippers organization, to spotlight the talented women who are already a part of the Clippers internal team, and to continue to give back to women both in L.A. and around the world."

The two brands will host their first monthly Clippers Career Coaching meet-up on Monday, January 28 at Staples Center before the Clippers game that evening. The event for women on Bumble Bizz will feature guest speakers Gillian Zucker, Clippers President of Business Operations, and Andee Olson, director of partnerships at Bumble, and encourage story sharing, networking and mentorship. Bumble Bizz users who match with the Clippers Career Coaching card on Bumble Bizz can register to attend the event.

“At the Clippers, we know that a diverse workforce drives better results. Promoting the message that diversity, including gender diversity, makes us stronger in all aspects of our business continues to be a priority at the Clippers. It’s one of the many reasons we are proud to partner with Bumble, who shares this value,” said Zucker. “Bumble’s powerful, female-first brand and platform is making a real difference in advancing workplace equality. We are thrilled to use our voice to amplify this message through the Empowerment Badge worn by our players as well as through the expansion of Clippers mentorship programming and youth basketball initiatives. Together we are positively impacting young women in our region and throughout the league.”

The next phase of joint Clippers and Bumble activations tells the stories of and exposes fans to real women who work for the Clippers, from the team chef who regulates nutrition for elite athletes every day, to the hard-working, driven basketball coach to the savvy, intelligent legal mind that makes the business run smoothly. The first of three Bumble and Clippers spotlights, highlighting Team Chef Priscilla Martinez and featuring Clippers employees from across the office, was launched today on www.clippers.com/bumble and across the companies’ digital and social platforms. Future episodes will feature Clippers Player Development Assistant Natalie Nakase and General Counsel and Vice President Nicole Duckett.
