Cavs Salute U.S. Military with Annual Hoops for Troops Night

As part of the NBA’s “Hoops for Troops Week” (November 3rd – 11th), the Cleveland Cavaliers will host their annual Hoops for Troops Night on Tuesday, November 10th. Many in-game elements throughout the night will feature members of the U.S. Military, while the Cavs and Utah Jazz will be donning patriotic gear. Hoops for Troops Night is presented by Ohio CAT.

On Tuesday, fans will see Cavs and Jazz players wearing special adidas shooting shirts, featuring the stars and stripes, red, white and blue versions of the teams’ logos. The shirt will be available for purchase in the Cavaliers Team Shop, with a portion of sales going to Wags 4 Warriors; the organization will also be the beneficiary of the evening’s 50/50 raffle. The teams will also be wearing Veterans Day-inspired Stance socks for the game. Coaches, staff and broadcasters from both teams will wear Hoops for Troops lapel pins as well.

Multiple branches of the military will be represented throughout the game, beginning with the national anthem. Air Force Master Sergeant Alyson Jones will perform the Star Spangled Banner, accompanied by a Marine Corp color guard. Halftime will feature an awe-inspiring performance from the Army Silent Drill Team. The Cleveland base of the Coast Guard will be honored during the game.

Fans will be able to enjoy the musical styling of the Air Force Band of Flight group, Systems Go, at section 108 on the main concourse. The group is visiting Quicken Loans Arena from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. The concourse will also feature several military-related displays, including recruitment stations.

As part of their support of Hoops for Troops, Ohio CAT will be awarding $5,000 scholarships to four local military veterans. Ohio CAT also provided a prize package valued at $30,000 to a lucky Army veteran, thanks to a successful half-court shot by J.R. Smith at the Wine and Gold Scrimmage last month.

Tickets are still available for the Hoops for Troops game on Tuesday, as well as for all other regular season home games. They can be purchased online at Cavs.com/tickets.
