To commemorate the Championship Era and Beyond of Cavaliers basketball, former teammates, close friends and 2016 NBA Champions Channing Frye and Richard “RJ” Jefferson will appear together as a special combo bobblehead presented by Baron Championship Rings.
The Channing/RJ bobblehead is the fifth and final Era Night bobblehead voted on by fans as part of the Cavs 50th Season Celebration. All fans in attendance on Monday, March 30 vs. Phoenix Suns will receive the exclusive bobblehead, outfitted in the black-sleeved uniforms worn in Games 5 and 7 of the of the 2016 NBA Finals.
The iconic duo, whose friendship began more than 20 years ago, reunited in Cleveland when Frye joined Jefferson and the Cavs in February 2016. Standout performances from Frye and Jefferson during the 2016 NBA Playoffs contributed to the Cavaliers winning their first NBA Championship and Cleveland’s first major sports title in 52 years.
Off the court, Frye and Jefferson also played a large role in the deepened camaraderie and unity of the team during the Championship season. Their leadership, effort, experience, humor and always-entertaining antics during their tenure in Cleveland won the hearts of Cavs fans then and are still remembered today.
Frye retired from the NBA as a Cavalier in April 2019 and RJ currently serves as a game analyst for the Brooklyn Nets, but the impact they had on the city of Cleveland as part of the first ever Cavaliers team to bring home an NBA Championship is surely unforgettable.
