#CavsRaptors Game Preview - October 28, 2016

Game Summary

The reigning champs will play their first road game of 2016-17 campaign when they visit the Air Canada Centre on Friday night to face the Toronto Raptors. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. (ET).

Besides this preseason, the last time these two teams squared off was in the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals, when Cleveland defeated Toronto 4-2.

The Wine and Gold will look to carry momentum over from Tuesday's opening night victory against the New York Knicks.

Offensively, Cleveland (1-0) had 31 assists on 45 made field goals and made 13 three-pointers. Defensively, the Cavs limited New York to 32-87 (.368) shooting from the field, swiped 12 steals and scored 21 points off of 18 Knicks turnovers. Cleveland also had a 52-28 edge in points in the paint.

Toronto (1-0) is also coming off a victory in their home opener as they downed the Detroit Pistons, 109-91, on Wednesday night thanks to some big performances.

DeMar DeRozan set a franchise-record with his eighth consecutive opening-night start and became the first player in team history to record 40 points in the season-opener, breaking Vince Carter’s previous mark of 39 points set in 2003.

Jonas Valanciunas scored a career-best 32 points and collected a game-high 11 rebounds.

As mentioned, the Conference foes will tussle in the regular season for the first time since the Wine and Gold knocked the Raptors out of the 2016 Playoffs. In that matchup, the Cavs outscored Toronto by an average of 28.5 points (113.0-84.5) in their four victories. The Cavs 38-point victory (116-78) over the Raptors in Game 5 of the series was the largest in franchise postseason history.
