Summer League Recap: Craig Porter Jr.

Quite a few Cavaliers improved their stock greatly during the team’s undefeated run at the Summer League Championship – and you can put Craig Porter Jr. near the top of that list. The tenacious guard from Wichita State went undrafted this past June, but it didn’t take long last week in Vegas before he showed exactly why he belongs at the next level. 

7.8, 6.8 … rebounds and assists that Craig Porter Jr. averaged over the last four games of this year’s Summer League session.

2 … Wichita State players in the last 50 years to record a triple-double – Fred VanVleet and Craig Porter, who finished with 15 points, 10 boards and 10 assists last February against Tulane.   

13.5, 6.2, 4.9 … points, rebounds and assists that Craig Porter averaged in his final season at Wichita State. 

22 … points that Craig Porter Jr. scored in his first Summer League start – scoring seven of those points in the fourth quarter in a win over Chicago.

“Everybody’s dream is to come and play right away in the NBA. But I know it’s going to take time to get there – especially being an undrafted player. I feel like the coaches (here in Cleveland) have a plan for me and I can play here eventually. But I know it’s going to take to develop.”
