The rebuilding Hornets could be without one of their veterans for the foreseeable future.
Nicolas Batum exited Wednesday’s season opener against Chicago after sustaining a right hand injury in the third quarter. X-rays after the game confirmed that the 30-year-old had suffered a fracture in his third finger.

Batum played just 11 minutes off the bench for the Hornets — who edged the Bulls 126-125 in Charlotte — and contributed four rebounds and two assists without attempting a shot.
