Representatives from the Golden State Warriors, Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders presented a check this evening for $750,000 to representatives from the American Red Cross and the City of Oakland, who accepted on behalf of the victims and their families, to help assist with relief efforts from the devastating Ghost Ship warehouse fire that claimed 36 lives in Oakland on December 2, 2016.  One hundred percent of the donated funds are going to those directly impacted by the fire.  The presentation was made this evening on-court at the Warriors game against the Detroit Pistons at Oracle Arena.

In the immediate aftermath of the fire, a fund was established by the Oakland A’s on the crowdfunding website YouCaring.com to raise money for the victims of the fire, with the A’s pledging to match up to $50,000 of public donations. Subsequently, the Raiders and Warriors made the same matching pledge, for a total match of up to $150,000 from the three organizations. Additionally, the Warriors players and coaches pledged to donate $75,000, with the team’s players also recording a PSA video to raise awareness about the relief efforts.  To date, more than 3,600 individual donations have been made to this specific fund.

Participants in tonight’s check presentation included Warriors President &amp; COO Rick Welts, Athletics Manager Bob Melvin, Raiders General Manager Reggie McKenzie, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, and American Red Cross Regional Chief Executive Officer Trevor Riggen.

Warriors players and coaches pledge to donate $75,000 to the ongoing relief efforts surrounding the Oakland Fire.

The players and coaches of the Golden State Warriors have pledged to donate $75,000 to the ongoing relief efforts surrounding the Oakland Fire, it was announced today.  The warehouse fire that began on the night of December 2 claimed a total of 36 lives.

The $75,000 from the players and coaches is in addition to the $50,000 that was previously pledged by the Golden State Warriors organization to the Oakland Fire Relief fund.

“As a team that calls the Bay Area our home, we are all devastated by this tragedy that took place right in our community,” said Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have lost their lives, and our sincere condolences go out to their loved ones. We invite anyone that would like to help those who have been affected by this tragedy to join us in supporting our neighbors that have lost so much.”

The Golden State Warriors announced tonight that the organization will donate $50,000 to the Oakland Fire Relief Fund established on youcaring.com in an effort to support families affected by the Oakland fire. Last night, a fire in the Fruitvale neighborhood claimed the lives of at least nine people, while several others were injured or have been reported missing.

"When a tragedy of this magnitude hits this close to home, we feel it’s imperative to do our small part to help our community and those impacted," said Rick Welts, Warriors President &amp; COO. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and friends during this incredibly difficult time."

The Warriors will offer a moment of silence prior to tonight’s game at Oracle Arena.
