2014-15 NBA Champion Warriors to be Honored at White House Thursday

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

The 2014-15 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors will be honored by President Barack Obama at the White House in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, February 4, the team announced today. The Warriors captured the 2014-15 NBA title with a 4-2 series victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, securing the team’s fourth championship in franchise history and first in 40 years (1974-75). The Warriors are one of five teams in NBA history to win at least four titles, doing so twice as the Philadelphia Warriors (1947 & 1956) and twice since moving to the West Coast prior to the 1962-63 season (1975 & 2015).

The Warriors, who will play at the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, own a 44-4 (.917) record in the 2015-16 campaign, equaling the best record through the season’s first 48 games in NBA history (1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers). The defending champions opened the season with 24 consecutive wins, earning the best start to a season in NBA history.
