Warriors Sign Ian Clark, Jarell Eddie, Tony Mitchell & Juwan Staten

The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guards Ian Clark and Juwan Staten along with free agent forwards Tony Mitchell and Jarell Eddie to contracts, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not released.

Clark, 24, holds career NBA averages of 2.4 points and 6.9 minutes in 53 games over two seasons with the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets. Prior to signing with Utah in 2013-14, Clark spent the 2013 NBA Summer League with the Warriors, earning MVP honors in the championship game to help Golden State complete a perfect 7-0 campaign in Las Vegas. The 6’3” guard is the all-time leader in points (1,920) and three-point field goals (340) at Belmont University, where he was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Year as a senior in 2012-13.

Eddie, 23, appeared in 44 games (18 starts) with the Austin Spurs of the NBA Development League in 2014-15, averaging 12.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 26.2 minutes per game. The Virginia Tech alum ranked second in the D-League in three-point percentage (.452) and fifth in three-point field goals (127). A 6’7” forward, Eddie signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks on March 5, 2015, but did not appear in a game. 

Mitchell, 23, spent the majority of the 2014-15 season in Puerto Rico with Atleticos de San German, where he tallied 10.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 27.9 minutes in 22 games. The North Texas product also appeared in six games for the Grand Rapids Drive of the NBA D-League last season, averaging 8.2 points and 7.2 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per contest. Originally selected by the Detroit Pistons with 37th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the 6’8” forward appeared in 21 games with the Pistons in 2013-14, averaging 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 3.8 minutes per game.

Staten, 23, played three seasons at West Virginia University after transferring from the University of Dayton, compiling averages of 12.1 points, 4.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 1.09 steals and 31.4 minutes in 129 games over his four-year collegiate career. The 6’1” guard earned All-Big 12 First Team honors as both a junior and senior and was a member of the Big 12 All-Defensive Team as a junior in 2013-14.

Clark will wear #21, Eddie #3, Mitchell #8 and Staten #33.  The Warriors roster currently stands at 19 players.
