Warriors To Face Denver Nuggets In First Round Of 2013 NBA Playoffs
Best-Of-Seven Game Series Begins In Denver On Saturday; First Home Game At Oracle Arena Set For April 26
The Golden State Warriors, as the #6 seed in the Western Conference Playoffs, will face the #3 seed Denver Nuggets in a best-of-seven series that is scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 20, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, the NBA announced this evening.
After opening the series with two games on the road, the Warriors will return to Oracle Arena to host Game 3 on Friday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Game 4 on Sunday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. before the series returns to Denver for Game 5, if necessary, on Tuesday, April 30. Should the series extend to six games, Golden State will host Game 6 at Oracle Arena on Thursday, May 2.
Golden State completed the 2012-13 regular-season tonight with a 99-88 victory at Portland, finishing the campaign with a 47-35 (.573) record – which marks the team’s second-highest win total since 1994. After finishing last season with a 23-43 (.348) record, the Warriors posted the second-highest winning percentage improvement in the NBA this season (+.225).
The Warriors return to the Playoffs for the first time since 2007, when the club advanced to the Second Round by beating the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in six games (4-2).
