Warriors Advance to Western Conference Semifinals

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

The Golden State Warriors have advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals in the 2015 NBA Playoffs following tonight’s 109-98 road victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, earning a 4-0 series victory over the Pelicans for their first four-game sweep since the 1975 NBA Finals against Washington. The Warriors will host Game 1 of the Semifinals against the winner of the first round series between Memphis and Portland. The earliest the Western Conference Semifinals could begin is next weekend.

In earning their fifth-ever series sweep (second in a best-of-seven series), the Warriors move on to the Western Conference Semis for the second time in three seasons and the third time in the team’s last four playoff appearances, previously completing first round series wins over Denver (2013) and Dallas (2007) to advance to the Semifinals.

After overcoming a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit in an overtime victory in Game 3 on Thursday, the Warriors led for a full three quarters en route to a double-digit series-clinching win over New Orleans in Game 4. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 39 points, hitting 6-of-8 from three-point range to set an NBA record for most three-pointers in a four-game playoff series (20). Draymond Green (20 points, 10 rebounds, playoff-career-high eight assists) became the first NBA player since Tim Duncan in 2003 to record four-straight postseason double-doubles with at least five assists in each game.
