Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

Klay Thompson is one of three NBA players to be featured on regional cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated.

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson is featured on a regional cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated, with magazines set to hit newsstands today, the team announced.

Coming out of the 2015 NBA All-Star Break, the Warriors own the league’s best record at 42-9. Thompson, 25, is currently averaging career-highs in points (22.1 ppg), assists (2.9 apg), steals (1.20 spg), field goal percentage (.471) and three-point percentage (.440). Last weekend in New York he made his first NBA All-Star appearance, joining backcourt mate Stephen Curry as starters for the Western Conference squad led by Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr and his staff.

The regional Sports Illustrated cover features a picture of Thompson during a game earlier this season, along with the title, “The Unlikely Turnaround: Klay Thompson’s Warriors.” The cover story is written by Sports Illustrated senior writer Chris Ballard.

This marks the 11th time overall that the Warriors have been featured on a Sports Illustrated cover and the third time in the last two years, as Curry graced the cover during the 2013 NBA Playoffs (May 13, 2013) and again for the 2013-14 NBA Season Preview (October 28, 2013). Thompson’s father, Mychal, appeared on the cover of S.I. along with his Los Angeles Lakers teammates for the magazine’s 1988 NBA Playoffs Preview (April 18, 1988).
