Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

The NBA Champion Golden State Warriors announced today the team’s 2015-16 Season Tip-Off Celebration, held in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, will take place in San Francisco City Hall and on Civic Center Plaza, this Wednesday, October 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee will recognize the Warriors 2015 NBA Championship by presenting the team a Key to the City of San Francisco, during a noontime event inside City Hall. Warriors Guard Klay Thompson, Forward Draymond Green, President & Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts and General Manager Bob Myers, as well as Kaiser Permanente’s Senior Vice President and Area Manager for San Francisco Ron Groepper will join Mayor Lee for the ceremony.

The Warriors, who became the fifth team in NBA history to win four or more NBA titles, ended the 2014-15 season by capturing the 2015 NBA Championship for the first time in 40 years and recorded a franchise-record 67 wins during the regular season.

As part of the Season Tip-Off Celebration, the Warriors will host two basketball clinics in Civic Center Plaza. The first clinic, in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, will be a Get Fit Clinic from 10:30 a.m. – 11: 30 a.m. featuring Warriors Forward James Michael McAdoo. The second clinic, in partnership with the Jr. NBA, will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. featuring Warriors Center Festus Ezeli. McAdoo and Ezeli will join Warriors Basketball Camp staff to run the youth through various basketball drills teaching them the fundamental skills and values of the game, in addition to the importance of physical fitness. About 50 students from the San Francisco Community Alternative School and 50 from the Fairmount Elementary School will participate in the morning clinic and take part in the press conference at noon. About 50 youth from Coaching Corps and its partner programs will participate in the afternoon clinic.

CSN Bay Area is also partnering with the Warriors for the Season Tip-Off Celebration by providing youth an opportunity to take photos from CSN Bay Area’s Warriors news desk, as well as providing volunteers from Coaching Corps to help run the afternoon clinic.

The Warriors and Kaiser Permanente are expanding their Get Fit program this season; it will now reach nearly 60,000 students at 111 Bay Area elementary schools this season, thanks to a new partnership with Playworks. This innovative collaboration between the Warriors, Kaiser Permanente and Playworks will help create a culture of health and wellness for students, staff and teachers at schools across the Bay Area. Events and programming during the academic year will leverage Kaiser Permanente’s expertise and the Warriors’ and Playworks’ network to encourage healthy choices and behavior. Students will be provided with positive activities and experiences to take back to their classrooms, homes and communities. Kaiser Permanente and Playworks curriculum will also be hosted online at warriors.com/getfit to highlight good nutrition and safe and fair play.
