The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk invites Bay Area basketball fans to visit the Boardwalk on Sunday, October 11 to take photos with the Golden State Warriors 2015 NBA Championship Trophy alongside the Santa Cruz Warrior’s 2015 NBA D-League Championship Trophy.
The Boardwalk event marks the first time Bay Area basketball fans can see both championship trophies together in one place at a free, public event.
“We’re thrilled we can celebrate this achievement and share these two trophies with Warriors fans in Santa Cruz and around the Bay Area,” said Santa Cruz Warriors President Jim Weyermann. “The community support we have received since we tipped off the first Santa Cruz Warriors game has been tremendous, and we hope this event can serve as a token of our appreciation for our loyal fan base.”
The NBA trophies will be on display on the Boardwalk near the Beach Bandstand, on October 11, 2015 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Fans are encouraged to take photographs with the trophies.
“2015 was a huge year for the Warriors and Bay Area basketball fans,” said Boardwalk spokesman Kris Reyes. “We’re excited to welcome local fans to the Boardwalk to see both of these impressive trophies.”
The Warriors are the first organization in NBA history to win both an NBA championship and an NBA D-League title in the same season. Earlier this year the Golden State Warriors won their first NBA championship in 40 years and fourth in franchise history and the Santa Cruz Warriors won their first NBA D-League championship in franchise history.
