More on Barbosa

Q: You played against Klay Thompson this summer in a world cup tune-up. He mentioned you look just as explosive as you’ve ever been – do you feel that way about yourself and your game?
A: I knew that after I tore my ACL I would have to get back in shape and work really hard, so I did. I worked with some people in Brazil that play soccer so that helped a lot. I came back stronger. I feel great about my speed and I am very excited to be here on this team.

Q: What are your thoughts when you played against the Warriors?
A: First thing; I love the fans. To play against the Warriors is really tough because of all of the fans. The fans are ridiculously different than all of the arenas that I’ve ever played in. I can tell just being around the Warriors that they have great chemistry. They have a union in the team and that’s very important. They’re young, but they’re thirsty. I am more than happy to be here with the team and help the team to go as far as we can.

Q: How did Klay look to you when you played against him this summer?
A: I didn’t know he could make those shots that he did. I didn’t know he had that quick release so I’m very happy to be on his side and Curry’s too. It’s been a very special time for me right now to be around those guys. Now I’m on their side so everything is going to be great for me.

Q: How do you think your past relationship with the coaching staff is going to help you ease in with the team as far as chemistry?
A: The relationship has already been great. They are familiar with my game and what I can bring to the team so I don’t think that’s an issue for me to worry about. I’m happy to be with them again.

Q: As an elder statesman, what do you hope to bring and teach the younger players on the team?
A: First I have to get to know everybody before I do that. I’ve been in the league for a while so I know how this business works. I’m very happy to help anyone on this team. I don’t consider myself as a leader, but I will be if I have to. I will do my best in bringing energy to this team. I don’t know my role yet, but the coaches will let me know what I have to do to help the team. I think everything is going to work really well.
