The Golden State Warriors have signed Trent Frost from Melbourne, Australia to a one-day contract for Thursday, December 4 when the team takes on the New Orleans Pelicans at Oracle Arena (7:30 p.m.) as part of the Warriors Wish Week. Warriors center Andrew Bogut, in partnership with Make-A-Wish®, will host 20-year-old Trent and his family from Melbourne, Australia and fulfill Trent’s wish of meeting Bogut and attending a NBA game for the first time.
Trent, who has a life-threatening medical condition, and his family will also join the Warriors Thursday morning for shootaround at the Warriors practice facility and meet the entire team and coaching staff. For Thursday night’s game, the Frost family, which includes Trent’s sister Laura (age 18) who was his bone marrow donor, will also enjoy pre-game shootaround courtside at Oracle Arena and dinner in the BMW Club at Oracle Arena. In addition, Bogut has set up additional gifts and surprises for Trent and his family during their trip including:
- A tour of the Warriors practice facility and locker room in Oakland
- Warriors gear signed by Bogut including a jersey and shoes for Trent
- Lunch for the entire family with Bogut in Level Two Restaurant at the Oakland Marriott City Center
- A package of video games and gear donated by 2K
This Make-A-Wish event is part of the team’s Plays for the Holidays community outreach campaign as part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving, with the Warriors organization and every Warriors player participating in events this holiday season to help brighten the lives of local families and youth in the Bay Area.
Earlier this week, the Warriors also hosted patients with life-threatening medical conditions from Nicholas Colby Fund, in addition to a family from the Ronald McDonald House in San Francisco to Tuesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic. Tuesday night’s guests had the opportunity to sit courtside during pre-game shootaround and sit in the Warriors Oracle Zone seats during the game as they watched their favorite team take on the Magic.
Later this season, Warriors guard Stephen Curry will host 4 Make-A-Wish families on Friday, January 9 when the Warriors play the Cleveland Cavaliers. Additional details will be announced at a later date.
