Warriors Breeze Past Blazers on Slate Night

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

The Warriors controlled the game from start to finish and picked up a 135-90 victory over the Trail Blazers on Slate Night Saturday at Oracle Arena.

GAME LEADERS

Kevin Durant set the tone early, hitting a 3-pointer on the game’s opening possession. Durant would finish with 34 points on 11-for-13 shooting, and he had plenty of support on a night in which the Dubs shot 58.6 percent from the field and had 36 assists on 51 made baskets.

Draymond Green tallied a double-double with 13 assists and 12 rebounds, while Ian Clark had a huge game off the bench with a career-high 23 points. Stephen Curry had 19 points and six assists and Klay Thompson added 16 points as the Dubs improved to 24-4 on the season.

As the score would indicate, the Dubs dominated in pretty much every facet of the game. They out-rebounded Portland 56-31 and kept the Blazers to 39.5 percent shooting. The Warriors out-scored Portland in every quarter by margins of 18, seven, 11 and nine, respectively, and their 45-point victory was their largest of the season.

It was the Durant and Curry show to start the game, as the highest scoring duo in the league each started the game 3-for-3 from the floor and finished the opening period with 13 points. Curry would finish the game with five 3-pointers and Durant had four splashes of his own.

Clark provided instant offense and continued his stretch of hot shooting, going 9-for-11 from the floor. Over the last three games, the guard is shooting 6-for-9 on 3-pointers after tallying three splashes in the Slate Night win.

With the Dubs in total control, they refused to take their foot off the gas pedal. Only one player – Durant – played more than 30 minutes, and the Dubs seemed to get contributions from every reserve that entered in the game. That included JaVale McGee, who came off the bench with Zaza Pachulia returning to the starting lineup following a three-game absence. McGee electrified the home crowd once again with three dunks off of lob passes in quick succession in the third quarter. McGee finished with 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting and has now gone 17-for-20 for 37 points in 43 minutes over the last three games.

The Warriors will now a pair of days off before wrapping up their three-game homestand on Tuesday against the Jazz. Tuesday’s game falls on Nate Thurmond Bobblehead Night, and the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a collectible of Thurmond, who passed away this past summer. In addition to the giveaway, fans attending the game will be able to take a photo with a life-sized version of the bobblehead on the main concourse outside of Section 112.
