DURANT PERFORMING AT HISTORIC LEVEL
Kevin Durant has been making basketball history for quite some time now, but by the looks of it, he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. In Golden State’s win over Minnesota on Saturday night, Durant became the first player in franchise history with at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five blocks in a game. It was the continuation of what has been a fantastic and historic start to the season for the former MVP, and his shockingly potent efficiency is what truly separates him from the pack. Through the season to date, he is one of only two players in NBA history to average 25.0 points per game while shooting at least 55.0 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range, with LeBron James being the other to accomplish the feat. He’s having quite possibly the most efficient offensive season in league history, and with another six blocks on Saturday, could very well be having the best individual defensive season of his decorated career. There is obviously still a long way to go, but the Warriors have to be extremely excited by Durant’s tremendous production in the early going.

ATLANTA SCOUTING REPORT
When the Hawks take the court on Monday night, they’ll look considerably different than in years past, but in many ways, they’re still performing like the team that has accumulated the second-most wins in the Eastern Conference over the last two seasons. Longtime Hawk signed with Boston in free agency, but they regrouped with the addition of Atlanta native Dwight Howard, who ranks third in the NBA with an average of 12.6 rebounds per game. The roster reconstruction hasn’t negatively affected their defensive prowess, as the Hawks currently possess the best defensive rating in the entire league after posting the second-best rating a season ago. Atlanta is currently tied for second place in the East with a record of 10-7, but they have struggled a bit of late, losing five of their last six games, including one to the Lakers on Sunday. That means the Hawks will be playing their second game in as many nights when they take on the Warriors, and given the likelihood that Atlanta will be comparatively fatigued, the Warriors would be wise to push the pace on Monday night.
