Draymond Green recorded his third straight triple-double and the Warriors beat the Hornets 111-101.

The players on the floor were waiting for it, the Warriors’ bench was waiting for it and the entire arena was waiting for it. And with 5:34 left in the fourth quarter, it happened: Draymond Green dished to Stephen Curry at the top of the 3-point arc and SPLASH. It was Green’s 10th assist, marking his third-straight triple-double and providing the signature moment of a 111-101 win over the Hornets on Monday night at Oracle Arena.
Green’s final stat line of 13 points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds made him the first Warriors player to get three consecutive triple-doubles since Tom Gola did so during the 1959-60 season. Furthermore, Green is just the 15th player in NBA history to achieve this rare three-peat.
Green’s brilliance complimented stellar nights from the Splash Brothers. Both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson finished with 30 points, combining to go 11-for-21 on 3-pointers. With Charlotte finding a way to get back in to the game on several occasions, Curry and Thompson combined for 13 points during an 18-4 run that extended the Dubs’ lead to 15 points late in the third period.
Harrison Barnes had eight points in his first game back after a 16-game absence (high ankle sprain) and Marreese Speights added 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting as the Warriors picked up their 35th straight regular season home win.
The victory was yet another shining example of the Dubs’ teamwork at its best. The team shared the ball to the tune of 32 assists on 45 made field goals, and they shot 51.7 percent from the field while connecting on 15 3-pointers. Five different Warriors players sank at least one 3-pointer, although it’s the final one from Curry and assisted by Green that the sellout crowd in attendance will remember forever.
The Warriors won’t have much time to enjoy the victory, as they travel south to take on the Lakers on Tuesday in the back end of a back-to-back.
