GAME LEADERS

All throughout this first month of the season, the Warriors have found a way to come through with the game on the line. Tonight was no different, as a the Dubs broke a tie game with a 17-5 run to close out a 106-94 victory over the Bulls on Friday night in a front of an amped crowd at Oracle Arena.

From the 2:30 mark in the first quarter to the final 90 seconds of the game, neither team led by more than six points, and the back-and-forth nature of the game resulted in 18 lead changes and 17 ties, the last of which came midway through the fourth quarter.

After Chicago’s Kirk Hinrich tied the game with a 3-pointer at 89-89, Stephen Curry came back down on the other end and a launched a trey of his own. The shot hit the back iron, and Klay Thompson dove to the floor to secure the long rebound. The hustle from Thompson paid off, as he dished to Curry, who took the pass in stride and promptly knocked down the go-ahead 3-pointer. The trey gave the Warriors a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, and the Dubs’ undefeated record remains intact.

Curry’s third trey of the night sparked the game-changing run, and Harrison Barnes padded the advantage with back-to-back treys late in the game. Curry finished with a team-high 27 points on a night that saw the Warriors get several winning contributions. Barnes had 20 points and nine rebounds, Klay Thompson had 15 points, Draymond Green stuffed the stat sheet (nine points, nine rebounds, five assists) and Andre Iguodala was a game-high +24, finishing with 12 points and five boards.

The 14-0 Warriors will look to keep their undefeated streak alive as they visit the Nuggets on Sunday.
