GAME LEADERS

The Warriors became the 10th team in NBA history to win 67 games during the regular season, and they played like it on Monday night, evening up their second round series with the Grizzlies at two games a piece with a 101-84 victory in Game 4 in Memphis. In a game the Warriors had to have, Stephen Curry made sure the Dubs got the result they needed, notching a game-high 33 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. Draymond Green recorded another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes and Andre Iguodala all scored in double-figures.

After two consecutive games in which the Warriors struggled from behind the three-point arc, they received a good omen right off the bat when Draymond Green sank the first of 14 Golden State treys on the night for the Dubs’ first points of the game. Green carried Golden State in the opening half of the first frame, scoring eight of the team’s first 10 points while playing his typical staunch defense. After Mike Conley’s three-pointer tied the game at 16 with 3:43 left in the first quarter, Curry began to leave his imprint on the box score. He scored seven points as part of a Warriors’ 12-4 run to close out the quarter, as the Dubs took a lead they would never relinquish.

Curry caught fire at the end of that quarter, and carried it into the second frame, where he put forth a performance fitting of an MVP. After Iguodala sank the second of his three three-pointers in the game to put the Dubs up 41-32 with 7:50 left in the half, Curry took over. He’d score the Warriors’ next nine points and 14 of their final 20 points of the first half as the Dubs closed the second quarter on a 14-7 run to take a commanding 61-44 lead into halftime.
