GAME LEADERS

The Warriors ended the regular season on a high note on Wednesday night, earning a 133-126 home victory over the visiting Denver Nuggets. Klay Thompson led all scorers with 25 points in only 16 minutes of action, while Marreese Speights added 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench. In total, the Warriors had seven players score in double-figures.

Entering the contest, the Warriors main goal was getting out of it healthy, a mission accomplished and aided by Steve Kerr limiting the minutes of his starting rotation. The starters, however, came out on fire, as the Warriors shot out to an early 22-10 lead more than halfway through the first quarter, thanks to 10 early points from Thompson. From there the two teams played even for the remainder of the frame, as the Dubs carried a 35-23 advantage into the second quarter. Denver immediately got back in the game, using a 14-4 run to draw within two points, trailing 39-37 with 8:17 left in the first half. The Nuggets would remain within four points until Thompson and Draymond Green combined for seven points in 49 seconds to put the Warriors up 61-52 with 3:02 left in the quarter. Denver responded with two consecutive buckets and finally a Wilson Chandler jumper with a half-second left to send the teams into halftime with the Warriors holding a 71-67 lead.
