GAME LEADERS

The Warriors commemorated the 40th anniversary of the team’s 1974-75 Championship season, and the current Dubs put on a performance that had to impress even those with rings from that NBA Finals run. The Warriors’ 107-76 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday night closed out a perfect 6-0 homestand, the team’s second this season, leaving the magic number at one to clinch the team’s first Pacific Division title since 1976.

After the Dubs shot less than 40 percent in the first half, the home team stormed out of the gate in the third period with a 22-2 run. The same Wizards team that shot a Warriors opponent season-high 53.2 percent in last month’s head-to-head matchup was held to 1-for-18 shooting in the frame, playing nearly 11 minutes before they tallied their lone field goal. The Dubs out-scored Washington 29-8 in that decisive third quarter, which was the fewest amount of points the team has allowed in a quarter since November 2003.

Stephen Curry paced the Warriors with 24 points and six assists, and he had the fans on Warriors Ground abuzz with his third quarter performance, knocking down a trio of 3-pointers in less than two minutes as part of that game-changing run. Curry tallied five 3-pointers on the night for his NBA record 64th game with at least five assists and five threes.
