GAME LEADERS

The Warriors pushed their win streak to six games on Tuesday night after defeating the Heat 114-97 in Miami. Stephen Curry was magnificent, scoring a season-high 40 points while going a ridiculous 8-of-11 from three-point range. It was the 51st game of his career with at least five three-pointers and five assists, passing Ray Allen for the most in NBA history. Klay Thompson added 24 points, as the Splash Brothers combined for 56 percent of Golden State’s points. The victory was their third-straight in Miami, and extends their franchise-best start to 11-2.

The Warriors shot 57 percent from the field as a team while holding the Heat to 39 percent from the field. In a microscope, that disparity would lead you to believe that the Dubs held a large advantage throughout the game, but due to both a strong start by Miami and poor free throw shooting by the Warriors, the contest remained very close up until the end of the fourth quarter.

The Warriors shot out of the gate with a 16-7 run to open the game, but Miami quickly turned the tide and outscored Golden State 29-14 through the rest of the first frame. Despite shooting nearly 62 percent from the field, the Dubs found themselves on the wrong end of a 36-30 deficit at the end of the first quarter, tied for the most points they’ve allowed in any quarter this season. Miami went 5-of-7 from three-point range, while the Warriors scuffled at the line, going just 1-of-6 from the charity stripe. Miami’s lead got as large as 16 in the second quarter, which tied the Warriors’ largest deficit of the season (11/9 at Phoenix). However, Golden State would go on a 23-8 run to close out the quarter, ending the half down 62-61.
