Warriors Make Wishes Come True for Bay Area Youth
December 3, 2012
On Sunday, December 2, the Golden State Warriors continued their “15 Plays for the Holidays” initiative by hosting 15 children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as their families, in partnership with Comcast SportsNet Bay Area at the Warriors Practice Facility.
The families were welcomed by the Warrior Girls as they entered and treated to lots of food, fun and games.
First, the families sat down to eat.
Make-a-Wish Foundation children feasted on hot dogs and corn dogs courtesy of Wienerschnitzel…
...and could make their own candied apple.
They also enjoyed some delicious Fenton's ice cream.
Spirits were high during the dinner portion of the evening.
Warriors guard Jarrett Jack welcomed everyone to the holiday party and expressed excitement to be able to spend time with the Make-A-Wish children and their families.
He then introduced his teammates, Festus Ezeli, Richard Jefferson, Klay Thompson and Assistant Coaches Kris Weems and Darren Erman who were there to help spread the holiday joy.
Before the festivities began, each child was presented with a digital camera as a holiday gift from Jarrett, with the help of his teammates. The children were very thankful for their gift and used the cameras to take pictures during the event for their own photo album.
All of the Warriors players and coaches participated in a variety of fun and interactive activities with the children...
...as did the Warrior Girls.
The holiday party included the Comcast SportsNet Bay Area Sportscaster Experience,
gingerbread house station,
photo booths and a number of other games and fun activities for the kids.
At the end of the holiday party, everyone received a Warriors holiday gift bag.
Overall, this event brought an infinite amount of smiles, heartwarming moments and new and memorable experiences for all the children, players and coaches involved.
A special thanks to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area for sponsoring the event as well as the vendors who donated food and resources to make this event a great success, including Wienerschnitzel, Kitchen On Fire, Levy Cares, and Fenton’s Creamery.
