With the 7th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Warriors selected Harrison Barnes, a sophomore forward out of the University of North Carolina.
From Mount Vernon, NY, Harrison Bryce Jordan Barnes’ middle name was inspired by a fellow Tar Heel, the one and only Michael Jordan.
At 6’8” and 228 lbs., the 20 year-old Barnes has the size and strength to play small forward in the NBA.
Barnes played in 71 games in his college career, averaging 16.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Barnes earned numerous accolades in his high school career, including The Sporting News and USA Today National Player of the Year.
He was named MVP of the McDonald’s All-Star Game, the Nike Hoop Summit, and the Jordan Brand classic.
Barnes entered UNC with tremendous expectations. He was the first freshman ever to be named to the preseason All-American team, and was eventually named ACC Rookie of the Year.
As a sophomore, Barnes was a Second Team All-American and First Team All-ACC selection.
