Warriors Big Men Festus Ezeli and James Michael McAdoo Host Youth Basketball Clinics During 2015-16 Season Tip-Off Celebration October 14

As part of the Warriors’ 2015-16 Season Tip-Off Celebration at San Francisco City Hall on Wednesday, October 14, center Festus Ezeli and forward James Michael McAdoo each hosted a basketball clinic in Civic Center Plaza with local youth. McAdoo began the festivities Wednesday morning by teaming up with Kaiser Permanente and Warriors Youth Basketball staff for a Get Fit Clinic to educate 100 students on the fundamental skills and values of basketball, as well as highlight the importance of health and fitness.

“Basketball has done so many things for my life, and I’m blessed to be here to share my love of the game with you and to have some fun today,” McAdoo said.

Wednesday’s event marked the launch of the Warriors and Kaiser Permanente’s expanded Get Fit program to reach nearly 60,000 students at 111 Bay Area elementary schools this season, made possible by a new partnership with Playworks. Surrounded by 100 students from the San Francisco Community Alternative School and Fairmount Elementary School, McAdoo shared his experience winning both the 2015 NBA Championship and the NBA D League Championship in the span of two months last season, and the role that nutrition and rigorous physical activity will play in his continued success.

“Winning two championships was definitely an experience I’ll never forget and pushes me every day to improve my game and my conditioning to get back to that same position next year,” said McAdoo. “I’ve made changes this summer to become stronger, healthier and a better eater this year, and I want you to also keep good habits to succeed in whatever activity you choose.”
