The Warriors open the 2023-24 season at Chase Center, hosting the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 24 (7 P.M, TNT). The Dubs will then head on the road, playing seven of their next eight games away from home. The team will conclude the regular season playing nine of their final 12 games on the road.

Insights on Warriors 2023-24 Schedule

END OF THE ROADIt started with the most attended game in NBA history and has included a White House visit and a highly contested NBA Finals rematch that went into overtime, but the Warriors’ five-game road trip will come to an end on Friday when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers. The road trip has been an eventful one to say the least, and the Dubs have a chance to do something they’ve yet to do this season – have a winning road trip. The Dubs have split their first four games of the trip and will wrap it up on Friday against the owners of the best home record in the Eastern Conference (19-4). This will be the Dubs’ second and final regular season matchup with the Cavs, and the Dubs won the first one, 106-101, back at home in November behind a clutch fourth quarter performance from Stephen Curry.

NEW LOOK LINEUPOn Thursday, the Warriors shortened their rotation to eight players and used a starting lineup consisting of Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney. It was the first time the Dubs have used that starting five in a regular season game – that group, however, did start the series-clinching Game 5 victory over the Nuggets in the first round of last year’s NBA Playoffs. Playing on the back end of a back-to-back, and after an emotional back-and-forth battle in a NBA Finals rematch in a tough road environment no less, it’s probable that Head Coach Steve Kerr will go deeper into his bench on Friday. The Warriors reserves who did see action – Kevon Looney, Anthony Lamb and Donte DiVincenzo – combined for just 10 points on Thursday, and the Dubs will probably need more production than that if they’re to come with a winning road trip in tow.

CLEVELAND SCOUTING REPORTThe Cavaliers have alternated wins and losses over the last two weeks and come into Friday’s matchup in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. One of the big storylines for Cleveland is the health of Donovan Mitchell. The ninth leading scorer (28.4 ppg) in the NBA this season, Mitchell missed the team’s previous game – a down-to-the wire loss to the red-hot Grizzlies – on Wednesday with a strained left groin and is questionable for Friday’s matchup. With or without Mitchell, the Cavs are a much improved and deep team this season. Darius Garland is coming off a season-high 14-assist effort on Wednesday, and he’s one of two players in the NBA this season averaging at least 20 points and eight assists while shooting at least 39 percent on 3-pointers. But it’s on defense where the Cavs are most dangerous. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen provide plenty of rim protection, as the Cavs have the second best defensive rating (allowing 109.4 points per 100 possessions) and allow the fewest amount of points per game (107.1). The Cavs have held their opponents below 100 points 14 times this season and have won 13 of those games. The Warriors faced a tough test on Thursday, and it won’t get much easier on Friday as they take on a Cavs team that has the East’s best home record. &nbsp;

Game Preview: Warriors at Cavaliers - 1/20/23

DUBS ON A RUNThe Warriors are five games deep into an eight-game homestand, matching the longest home stretch in franchise history, and from a results standpoint, it couldn’t have gone better. The Dubs are 5-0 so far on the homestand, marking their longest winning streak of the season, and they’re two games over .500 at 20-18, also matching the best they’ve been all season. The Warriors will look to keep that streak alive on Wednesday as they host the Pistons in this season’s second and final head-to-head meeting between the two clubs. Detroit took the first meeting, 128-114, on their home floor on Oct. 30, as Saddiq Bey’s season-high 28 points led four total Pistons players with 20-plus points. That loss fell on the back end of a back-to-back for the Warriors during a five-game road trip, and they’ll look to return the favor on Wednesday as they look to build upon their NBA-best 17-2 home record.

WILD FINISHESThe Warriors opened the homestand with one of their most complete efforts of the season, a 123-109 victory over the Grizzlies on Christmas evening. Since then, the team has used some fourth quarter, and overtime, magic to pull out some improbable victories. It started with the Dec. 27 vs. Charlotte, when the Dubs lost what was an 18-point third quarter lead and needed a series of clutch shots to beat the Hornets. And the next three games saw the Warriors come back from at least nine points down against Utah on Dec. 28, Portland on Friday and Atlanta on Monday. The Dubs closed out the Jazz with a 15-6 run over the final seven minutes of the game and in similar fashion, beat the Trail Blazers with a 16-2 game-closing run. But Monday’s win may have been the most dramatic of all, with the Warriors turning a 21-point lead in the second quarter into a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and needing multiple buzzer-beaters at the end of the period to prolong and eventually win the game.

Regardless of how they got there, the Dubs have strung together some wins, and they’ve done so without Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins, the team’s two All-Stars from last season. The Warriors have now won six of their last eight games, which certainly bodes well with both Curry and Wiggins inching closer toward a return to game action.

DETROIT SCOUTING REPORTThe Pistons come into Chase Center on Wednesday playing the fourth game of a five-game road trip. Detroit has lost eight of its last 10 games and now have the league’s worst record (10-30). To add injury to insult, Cade Cunningham recently underwent surgery to stabilize a left tibial stress fracture and Marvin Bagley III injured his right hand in Monday’s loss in Portland. But still, Detroit has a number of weapons, several of which they showed the Warriors back on Oct. 30. Bojan Bogdanovic is averaging a career-high 20.8 points per game and has led the team in scoring in 15 of the 27 games that Cunningham, the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, has been out with injury, and former Warrior Alec Burks (14.2ppg) leads a reserve unit that just had the highest-scoring month of any NBA team in nearly three years. Part of what makes the Pistons a potentially dangerous team is their ability to get the free throw line. Detroit ranks first in the NBA in free throws attempted per game (27.7), and the Pistons went 34-for-38 on free throws in their last game against the Dubs.

Game Preview: Warriors vs. Pistons - 1/4/22

Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga each made huge plays down the stretch of the Warriors’ 110-105 victory over the Hornets on Tuesday night at Chase Center.

The Hornets had rallied back from an 18-point deficit in the third quarter, and with the game tied at 101-101 for over a minute and a half late in the fourth quarter, Kuminga broke the tie with a dunk and made a tough shot moments later to put the Warriors up by four. And Jordan Poole put the game away with some creative ball handling, finishing one possession on his own before setting up a Kuminga dunk on the other.

With the win, the Warriors improved to an NBA-best 14-2 at home this season, and 17-18 overall, and they’ll continue their homestand on Wednesday night against the Jazz.

KLAY STARTS OUT HOTAfter the Warriors trailed by three early, the Dubs surged ahead by an early splash party from Klay Thompson. The Splash Brother made four 3-pointers in the opening quarter, marking the third time this season he’s made at least four threes in a single period. Thompson finished with a game-high 29 points, 14 coming in the opening period.

HORNETS STAGE A COMEBACKThompson made five 3-pointers in the game, but all other Warriors combined to go 3-for-25 from distance. Those perimeter struggles allowed Charlotte to get back in the game. The Hornets used a 20-6 run to tie the game at 98-98 in the fourth quarter. The Hornets tied the game on consecutive possessions with made 3-pointers, but the Dubs’ defense stepped up from there and never allowed the Hornets to take the lead in the final quarter. In fact, Charlotte was held without a made field goal for four minutes after Gordon Hayward’s game-tying 3-pointer with 4:19 left in the game. Thompson made a big block during that stretch, which contributed to the Hornets shooting just 41.3 percent for the game.

CLUTCH KUMINGAKuminga was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor and his 14 points were the most of any reserve in the game. The second-year forward played all but two seconds of the fourth quarter, and he made plays on both sides of the ball during that stretch. Kuminga had eight points, three rebounds and a steal in the final period, and six of those points were scored in the final three minutes of the game.

POOLE PUTS IT AWAYKuminga and Poole combined to score 11 of the Warriors’ final 12 points, and both players had eight points in the fourth quarter. Poole had 24 points for his 11th game of 20-plus points in his last 13 outings, saved his two best highlights for the final minute of the game. He spun past Mason Plumlee for a layup to give the Dubs a six-point lead and his assist on Kuminga’s dunk all but put the game away.

Young Dubs Deliver Late in Win Over Hornets

Klay Thompson started hot, Andrew Wiggins finished strong and Stephen Curry and Draymond Green played at a high level all night as the Warriors took it to an undermanned Clippers squad with a 124-107 victory on Wednesday night at Chase Center.

Wiggins knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with a season-high 31 points, Curry had 22 points and nine assists and Draymond Green logged nine points and 12 assists, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor. The Dubs logged 36 assists on 48 made baskets and shot well over 50 percent for the majority of the game before emptying their bench over the final minutes of the game. Still, the Warriors dropped 124 points on one the league’s best defenses, marking the most points the Clippers have allowed this season.

WIGGINS STAYS HOTNot only was the 31 points a season-high for Wiggins, he shot 12-for-18 from the floor, setting or matching season-highs in field goals and shooting percentage as well. It was the second straight game with six made 3-pointers for Wiggins, who made two threes in the second, third and fourth quarters. Wiggins scored 13 points in the second quarter, and he wound up knocking down six of his final eight shots from distance.

ANOTHER HOT START FOR KLAYKlay Thompson had the hot hand early, making his first three shot attempts, two of which were 3-pointers. In addition to showing off his range, the Splash Brother attacked the basket, resulting in six free throw attempts in the opening quarter, and he also finished a fast break with a dunk for his 14th and 15th points of the quarter. If Thompson starting strong sounds familiar, that’s because that has been the trend as of late. Over his last three games, he’s averaging 15.3 points in the first quarter while shooting 15-for-20 (75 percent) from the floor and 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) on 3-pointers.

CLOSING OUT THE HALFA five-point game with four-and-a-half minutes left in the second quarter, the Warriors scored on their next seven possessions to spark an 18-3 run. Andrew Wiggins got the run started with two tough takes to the basket, one of which resulted in a three-point play. But perhaps his most memorable shot was a 3-pointer from the wing that rolled around the rim multiple times before eventually falling. Draymond Green assisted that shot for one of his seven first-half helpers, and the Warriors pushed their lead to as many as 20 during that run.

“It was our best first half of the year,” Head Coach Steve Kerr said. “We were defending with a purpose and because we weren’t fouling, we were able to get out and run … Good defense led to good offense and vice versa.”

SAVED BY THE SPLASHThe Warriors took a 19-point advantage into halftime, but the Clippers, playing without perennial All-Stars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, cut that deficit down to nine in the third period. But Stephen Curry knocked down two straight 3-pointers and Anthony Lamb knocked down the other. The Warriors, who shot 19-for-51 on 3-pointers for the game, made seven treys in the third period to push their lead back to 16 points entering the third quarter, and the Clippers never got closer than that the rest of the way.

UP NEXTThe Warriors have now won seven straight at home and will look to extend that streak on Friday when they take on the Utah Jazz (12-8).

Warriors Beat Clippers for 7th Straight Home Win

You knew it wouldn’t be easy, but the Warriors got it done. Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry knocked down clutch 3-pointers down the stretch and the Dubs beat the Rockets 127-120 for their first road win of the season on Sunday.

Thompson knocked down three of his 10 3-pointers in the final 5:15 of the game, and Curry’s improbable fade-away trey serve as a dagger. Thompson finished the game with 41 points, and Curry delivered 33 points and 15 assists for his second consecutive double-double.

“I don’t care if it’s a mid-November game, that felt great,” Thompson said.

DOWN THE STRETCHThe Warriors were down 108-107 with six minutes to go before Curry knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Dubs a lead. Thompson hit a splash of his own on the Warriors’ next possession, and each of the Splash Brothers would knock another trey in the game’s final 66 seconds. The Splash Brothers combined for 18 of the team’s final 20 points, knocking down five threes between them over the final half of the final quarter. For the game, Thompson and Curry combined for 74 points, hitting 17-for-27 from distance.

STANDOUT STATSThompson had 10 threes, Curry made seven and Andrew Wiggins (22 points) hit six treys, and their 23 combined splashes were the most by a trio in a single game in NBA history. Additionally, it marked the first time in team history that three Warriors players made at least six 3-pointers. Most of those 3-pointers came as a result of great Warriors ball movement and unselfish play, which was reflected by the team’s season-high 38 assists.

HOT STARTThe game couldn’t have started any better for the Warriors. They opened the game with an 11-0 run over the first three minutes, and they built an 18-point advantage in the period thanks in large part to a brilliant start from Klay Thompson. After the Splash Brother hit three threes during an 11-point first quarter In Friday’s win over the Knicks, Thompson had the hot hand once again from the opening tip, making his first six shots of the game. Thompson finished the quarter with 20 points with four made 3-pointers, as the Warriors had 40 points in the period for their highest scoring first quarter of the season.

BUT THEN THE SECOND QUARTER HAPPENEDAfter shooting 73 percent from the floor in the first quarter, the Warriors shot 27 percent in the second period, and that poor shooting was made worse by a plethora of fouls and turnovers from the Dubs. Just as the Warriors opened the game with a dominant run, Houston did the same in the second quarter. The Rockets scored the first 13 points of the second quarter, setting the tone for the rest of the period in which the Dubs’ defensive deficiencies returned. The Rockets won the quarter 37-21 behind a flurry of free throws, strong 3-point shooting and high-flying dunks. The third overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, Jabari Smith Jr. had 12 of his career-high 22 points in the period.

A BATTLE DOWN TO THE WIREThe Rockets trailed by as many as 18 in the opening quarter and led by as many as nine points in the second period, and the teams would exchange leads five more times in the second half. Kevin Porter Jr. gave Houston a chance to win with a team-high 30 points, but Curry had 25 points in the second half, including 16 points in the third period, and Thompson made a critical 3-pointer in the final seconds of the third quarter to give the Dubs a 97-94 lead. Neither team led by more than seven points in the second half until Curry’s dagger 3-pointer extended the Dubs’ lead to nine points in the final minute of the game.

Splash Brothers Deliver Late in First Warriors Road Win

A strong start and a balanced scoring effort help lift the Warriors past the Knicks 111-101 on Friday night at Chase Center.

Stephen Curry posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 assists, Klay Thompson started and finished strong during his 20-point night and Draymond Green was in the middle of everything (10 points, nine rebounds, seven assists) as the Warriors improved to 7-1 at home this season.

KEY SEQUENCEWith just under five minutes left in the game, the Knicks were threatening a comeback. They had slowed the pace of the game down and used a parade of free throws to cut what was a 22-point Warriors lead down to nine. But the Warriors got a defensive stop on one end, and crisp ball movement from the Warriors resulted in a Klay Thompson 3-pointer on the other. The shot gave the Dubs a 13-point advantage, and the Warriors would maintain that double-digit advantage the rest of the way.

"That felt awesome," Thompson said. "Especially when you swish the ball. That’s the best feeling as a shooter is tickling the twine like that.  Just felt incredible to have an efficient night from the field. Definitely going to be something for me to build on."

KLAY IN CONTROLAfter missing his first shot of the game, Klay Thompson scored on three straight Warriors possessions early in the first quarter, the last two of which resulted in 3-pointers for the Splash Brother. Thompson had the first eight points of a 10-0 Warriors run, and he’d add another 3-pointer in the quarter during his 11-point first period. Thompson threw down his first dunk of the season in the third quarter and knocked down three more shots in the fourth quarter to finish with 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting, marking his most efficient scoring output of the season.

"Much more patient early and it paid off from him, paid off for our team too," Head Coach Steve Kerr said. "It seemed like every time Klay just made an extra pass the ball started to move and then we got a wide-open shot."

TAKING TURNSAfter Thompson’s hot start, Andrew Wiggins took over for the Warriors in the second quarter with 13 of his 20 points in the period. And then Stephen Curry got it going in the third quarter with a 10-point period before Jordan Poole started the final period hot, scoring the team’s first eight points before Thompson helped finish off the Knicks.

DUBS DISHIN’The Warriors opened the game by tallying assists on their first 10 made baskets, and many of those came on 3-pointers. Four different Warriors players made a trey in the period, helping the Dubs lead by as many as 18 in the opening period. The Warriors continued to move the ball throughout the game, ending up with 32 assists in the game. Curry led the way with 10 helpers, Draymond Green added seven and five other players had at least two. JaMychal Green was on the receiving end of many of those assists, and he wound up finishing with a season-high 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting in 17 minutes.

Dubs Dish Their Way to Win Over Knicks

Stephen Curry had the hot hand all night but the Suns used a three-point surge to hand the Dubs a 130-119 defeat on Wednesday night in Phoenix.

The reigning Western Conference Player of the Week, Curry made his first five shots of the night, surpassed 30 points by halftime and wound up with the 11th 50-point game of his career. As brilliant as Curry was, it wasn’t enough to slow down a Suns team that shot 51.2 percent from the floor and even better from 3-point range, hitting 21 of 40 (52.5%) from distance.

&nbsp;The Warriors remain winless on the road this season but will look to get back on track on Friday when they come home to host the Knicks.

STEPH GONNA STEPHCurry became the first Western Conference player to score 50 points in a game this season, and the third player in the NBA to score 50 points this week – Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid had 59 points on Sunday, the same day that the Cavs’ Darius Garland posted 51 points. How Curry went about that 50-point effort was scoring in a myriad of ways. He made seven 3-pointers, the fewest he’s ever had in any of his 11 50-point games, and several of his 10 two-point baskets came by attacking the rim.
