HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets woke up early to team up with The Today Show Wednesday morning, joining forces for an effort that raised millions of dollars for a local charity.

Kyle Lowry, Clutch the Rockets Bear and other team staff took part in the proceedings as part of Today Show personality Al Roker’s Lend a Hand tour that rolled through Houston.

Lowry announced the news that the Rockets organization would be donating 200 pairs of sneakers and 1,000 tickets to an upcoming Rockets game to Casa de Esperanza de los Ninos — The House of Hope for Children.

The Rockets’ donation was part of city-wide effort that generated approximately $2.7 million dollars for Casa de Esperanza, an organization that, for nearly three decades, has provided a safe haven for more than 3,000 infants and young children whose lives have been disrupted by abuse, neglect or poverty.
