Rich Gotham Named Celtics Chief Operating Officer

Massachusetts native and Providence College Alum to oversee Boston Celtics' Business Operations

BOSTON (June 28, 2006) - The Boston Celtics announced today that Medfield, MA resident and Providence College alum Rich Gotham has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer of the organization. In his new role with the team, Gotham will be responsible for multiple aspects of the Celtics business operations including marketing, ticket sales and service, corporate partnerships, community and public relations, game entertainment, broadcast partnerships and arena relations. In addition, he will continue to work with Celtics Ownership, Basketball Operations and the NBA on team-related issues.

Gotham joined the Celtics as the Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Corporate Development in April 2003. Prior to working for the Celtics, he had a successful career in the new media and technology industries. He spent five years with the global internet media company Terra Lycos most recently as Vice President of Sales and Corporate Development. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Channel Sales and Market Development with FTP Software Inc. He has also held sales management and business development positions with NCR Corporation and Process Software Corporation.

In addition to his duties with the Celtics, Gotham currently serves on Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's Committee for Physical Fitness and Sports, is a Board member for Junior Achievement and serves on the Advisory Board for the National Sports Marketing Network. A graduate of Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, he grew up in Milford, MA and currently resides in Medfield, MA along with his wife and three children.
