PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Boston Celtics veteran Brandon Bass is no stranger to expressing himself through art during his free time off the court.

Tuesday afternoon Bass traveled to Roger Williams Middle School in Providence, R.I. for the unveiling of the school’s new art studio, sponsored by the Charity by Design division of Alex and Ani.

The power forward unveiled the new space alongside several members of the Celtics organization including Team President Rich Gotham, Celtics legend Dana Barros, mascot Lucky and a couple of Celtics Dancers. The Mayor of ProvidenceJorge Elorza and Charity by Design Vice PresidentNicki Maher were also in attendance.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this vital enhancement of Roger Williams Middle School and their art department,” said Maher.

After the students arrived in the art studio for briefing and introductions they split up into three groups to take part in a number of art-based workshops.

Utilizing six new iMacs, an 80-inch television and an Apple TV, students diligently worked together to bring their creations to life.

Bass worked the room as he helped students with 2D art, photography and computer activities. Concluding the unveiling of the studio, the forward posed for pictures and signed autographs for the enthusiastic students.

A celebratory pep rally followed the unveiling of the space, during which Bass and Barros engaged in a captivating question and answer session with the young scholars.

“It was so great to see how excited the kids were to get this new media arts room and to have us here to celebrate with them,” said Bass. “We stressed the importance of education and how hard work can help you accomplish anything.”
