Trail Blazers Acquire Shabazz Napier

The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired guard Shabazz Napier from the Orlando Magic in exchange for cash considerations, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.

“Shabazz is a talented young player that we are pleased to add to our program,” said Olshey. “He fits the model we instituted last year and we look forward to helping him grow as a player in our system.”

Napier, 24, has averaged 4.4 points (36.1% FG, 34.7% 3-PT, 76.2% FT), 1.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 15.2 minutes over two seasons with the Miami Heat and Orlando.

Originally selected by the Charlotte Bobcats with the 24th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Napier was traded from Miami to Orlando last July in exchange for a 2016 second round draft pick. He averaged 3.7 points (33.8% FG, 32.7% 3-PT, 73.3% FT) and 1.8 assists in 55 games with the Magic in 2015-16.
