LaMarcus Aldridge Named NBA Western Conference All-Star

Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge has been named a 2015 NBA All-Star reserve by a vote of Western Conference head coaches, it was announced today by the league.

Aldridge, 29, is averaging a team-high 23.6 points (46.3% FG, 51.1% 3PT, 87.6% FT) and 10.2 rebounds to go with 1.9 assists and 1.18 blocked shots in 40 games this season for the Trail Blazers (32-14). One of just three players averaging 23 points and 10 rebounds per game, Aldridge was named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for the weeks ending Dec. 7, and Dec. 21, respectively.

Rising among the franchise’s career leaders in a number of categories, Aldridge passed Jerome Kersey for second on Portland’s all-time rebounding list and Terry Porter for second place on the Trail Blazers’ all-time scoring list this season. Trailing only Clyde Drexler (18,040 points, 5,339 rebounds) in both categories, Aldridge currently has 11,846 points and 5,115 rebounds in 617 games over nine seasons.

Playing in his fourth consecutive NBA All-Star Game, Aldridge becomes the third player in franchise history to be selected four times, joining Drexler (8) and Sidney Wicks (4).
