Mulder was born June 14, 1994 in Etobicoke, Ontario. He's the son of Randy Mulder and Jennifer Gignac, and has one sister, Cynthia. Mulder played high school ball at Catholic Central, where he also competed in football and track and field. In addition to being named a two-time MVP in his basketball league, Mulder also won a city championship in the high jump. He graduated high school as a top-10 basketball prospect in Canada, but turned down a Division I offer from Detroit Mercy and attended Vicennes University (JUCO) instead. During his sophomore year at Vincennes University, he produced averages of 15.7 points and 6.4 rebounds on his way to making the JUCO All-American team. When it came time to make a transfer decision, Mulder ultimately elected a blue blood and headed for the University of Kentucky. He spent the 2015-16 season primarily as a reserve, appearing in 24 games off the bench. Mulder's playing time increased his final year, as he appeared in 32 games, even collecting two starts. His scoring increaced to 4.7 ppg on 40.3 percent shooting. Mulder was not selected in the 2017 NBA Draft, but was later picked ninth overall in the G League Draft by the Windy City Bulls.
