Legendary Moments in NBA History: Bernard King scores 50 points in back-to-back games

* Legends Profile

Bernard King was one of the best scorers in the NBA during his 14-year career.

From New Jersey to New York to Washington, King was dominant on offense during every stop to retire with averages of 22.5 points on over 50 percent shooting. King won the NBA scoring title for the 1984-85 season with an average of 32.9 points.

However, you could argue King’s most impressive offensive accomplishment came with the Knicks during the 1983-84 season when he scored 50 points on back-to-back nights.

On January 31, 1984, King tipped off the scoring streak with 50 points against the Spurs in San Antonio. He shot 20-for-30 from the floor and added 10 points from the free throw line.

The next night, King dropped another 50 points on the Mavericks in Dallas. His stat line was remarkably similar to the night before, as he shot 20-for-28 from the floor and added another 10 points from the free throw line.

* Box Score: Knicks 105, Mavericks 98

King would go on to reach the 50-point mark five more times during his career, including a career-high 60-point performance against the Nets on Christmas Day 1984.
