5 NBA things to know for Oct. 31

Get up to speed on the latest NBA news, plus a quick look at stories we’ll be following closely today:

1. Warriors await word on Curry: If you somehow missed it, the Warriors’ star exited last night’s game with a broken left hand. He had his CT scan today on the injury and, per multiple reports, official word on how long he’ll be out may be known as soon as Friday.

2. Fallout from the Towns-Embiid scuffle: We’ll be watching to see what kind of suspension/fines/etc. come down from last night’s scuffle between the Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns and the Sixers’ Joel Embiid. Both teams are off to solid starts, but a significant suspension to either or both player could have a considerable impact in the early-season standings.

3. Welcome back, Kawhi: After missing last night’s road loss to the Utah Jazz, LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is expected to suit up tonight as his squad hosts the San Antonio Spurs (10:30 ET, NBA League Pass). As always, it will be worth watching to see how he fares against the team he called home for his first seven seasons.

4. Jimmy vs. the ATL, Part II: In his first game of the 2019-20 season — and his first game with the Heat — Jimmy Butler got off to a quick start and never really looked back. Even better (or worse, if you’re a Hawks fan) for him is Atlanta is up on the docket again (7 ET, TNT) tonight. Too bad that Trae Young (ankle) will miss out on this one, though.

5. It’s Halloween, too!: Amid all this talk of injuries, suspensions and big games we almost forgot today is a day for dressing up and disguising yourself. Should be interesting to see who shows up dressed up as what before tonight’s games.
