NBA double-double leaders this season

Let’s dig into the double-double leaderboard with one month to go in the regular season.

Domantas Sabonis is among the league leaders in double-doubles in 2024-25.

Last season, Domantas Sabonis cruised to the double-double crown with 77 such performances to become the first player to reach that total since Moses Malone in 1979. The race to lead the league in double-doubles this year is much more competitive, with upwards of five players in contention. Let’s dig into the double-double leaderboard with one month to go in the regular season.

Nikola Jokić, Denver Nuggets – 51 double-doubles in 59 games

The Joker is lapping the field in terms of leading the league in triple-doubles with 29 in 59 outings. His lead in the double-doubles column is a bit more perilous, with Sabonis just one game behind him. Still, 51 double-doubles in 59 games – good for 86 percent of his games – is remarkable. He’s had a number of monster games, including the first game in NBA history with 30 points, 20 rebounds, and 20 assists. He has five games with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds and nine games with at least 20 points and 15 assists. The Nuggets have 17 games remaining and at his current pace, Jokić would get 15 more double-doubles to bring his season total to 66.

Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento Kings – 50 double-doubles in 56 games

Sabonis is not far off the pace from winning the double-double crown for the third consecutive year. His remarkable 77 double-doubles mark from a year ago is out of reach after recently suffering a hamstring injury that will cost him at least five games. If he is able to return in the next couple of games, the double-double crown is still within reach. It will be tricky if he falls much further behind Jokić, however.

Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks – 46 double-doubles in 57 games

KAT is having a tremendous first season with the Knicks. He’s close to matching his games played total from a year ago, and being healthy has paid major dividends. Towns is up to 46 double-doubles in 57 games. If he continues at that pace, he will add 14 more double-doubles to his ledger over the last 18 games of the season. That would bring him to 60 double-doubles, a figure he has not reached since the 2017-18 season. It will be tricky for Towns to catch Jokić for the lead but it’s not completely out of the question if he goes on a tear.
