Jabari Smith Jr. poured in 33 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 100-99 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA 2K24 Summer League on Friday at Thomas and Mack Center.

The Trail Blazers jumped out to a quick 12-4 start but the Rockets fought back to make it a two-point game after one quarter. The Blazers stayed in front through the second and maintained a six-point lead at halftime, still the Rockets kept it close and brought it back to a five-point deficit heading into the final quarter. The Rockets picked up momentum in the fourth and after a few lead changes, they closed the game with a wild rally capped off by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Smith Jr. to complete the comeback win.

Smith Jr. also tallied seven rebounds, two assists and a block to go with his game-high 33 points, in 31 minutes of action. Tari Eason followed up with 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks. Cam Whitmore logged a double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Amen Thompson stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, four rebound, five assists, three steals and four blocks. Thompson left the game in the fourth quarter with a lower leg injury and did not return.

On the other side, Shaedon Sharpe led the Trail Blazers with 21 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks, in 32 minutes. Jabari Walker recorded a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal, while Scoot Henderson totaled 15 points, five rebounds, six assists and a steal. Henderson was forced to leave the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury and did not return.

The Trail Blazers will look to bounce back as they clash with the Spurs on Sunday. The Rockets will also be back in action on Sunday against the Pistons.
