2023 Salt Lake City Summer League

Jazz announce return of Salt Lake City Summer League

The Jazz, Thunder, Grizzlies and 76ers will take part in the July showcase at the Delta Center.

2022 No. 2 pick Chet Holmgren made his summer debut in the Salt Lake City Summer League last July.

SALT LAKE CITY – The 2023 Salt Lake City Summer League presented by America First Credit Union – a four-team, six-game event hosted by the Utah Jazz – will take place July 3, 5, and 6 at the Jazz’s downtown home arena. The Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Philadelphia 76ers will compete in the round-robin showcase. Now in its eighth consecutive year, the Salt Lake City Summer League is held in association with the Utah Sports Commission and Western Governors University.

With the team’s new long-term naming rights agreement with Delta Air Lines set to start July 1, the 2023 Salt Lake City Summer League will mark the first time that fans will be welcomed back to the Delta Center in more than 16 years. The Delta Center was the original name of the arena upon its opening in 1991, and its return marks a full-circle moment for both organizations.

“Salt Lake City Summer League is a fun, casual environment where our local community can continue to celebrate their love of basketball during the NBA’s offseason,” said Jonathan Rinehart, president of the Salt Lake City Stars, Jazz Gaming, and Salt Lake City Summer League. “At Summer League, you can feel the electric energy thanks to many players making their NBA debut, and we look forward to giving our passionate, loyal fans a first look at the Jazz’s highly anticipated 2023 draft class.”

General public tickets for single games and three-day passes will go on sale in May at SLCSummerLeague.com. Ticket information, a schedule of games, and the radio and television broadcast information for the Salt Lake City Summer League will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 38th annual NBA Draft Lottery is May 16, and the NBA Draft is June 22. The league previously announced that the 2023 NBA Summer League will be held July 7-17 in Las Vegas, with all 30 teams participating.

Salt Lake City Summer League is an annual showcase of rookies selected in that year’s NBA Draft; sophomores; select free agents; and other athletes competing to make NBA and G League regular season rosters.

The Jazz will be one of the most-watched teams this offseason. The team currently owns three first-round picks in the 2023 Draft, one with the ninth-best odds in the draft lottery, and will also receive the 16th selection (from Minnesota) and the 28th pick (from Philadelphia).

The Thunder hold a large amount of draft capital, including a 2023 lottery pick and multiple second-round picks, creating potential for a summer league roster filled with ample next-generation NBA talent.

The Grizzlies enter the summer season with their own first (No. 25) and second-round picks (No. 56), as well as an additional second-round pick (No. 45) acquired from the Timberwolves.

While the 76ers do not own any picks in the 2023 NBA Draft as of today, they are currently the No. 3 seed in the NBA Playoffs and will field a team at the Salt Lake City Summer League for the second-straight year.

Last year’s Salt Lake City Summer League featured the debuts of No. 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren and Rookie of the Year finalist Jalen Williams, while other past notable participants include current Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr., and NBA All-Stars Donovan Mitchell, Ben Simmons, Jayson Tatum, and Trae Young.
