Giannis Antetokounmpo made his podcast debut Wednesday and revealed his plans to work out with Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon before the season starts.
Appearing on the 48 Minutes podcast, Antetokounmpo spoke about his admiration for Olajuwon and expressed his excitement to learn from one of his childhood idols.
“This season for the training camp I have a trip that I’m going to go down to Houston and try to work out with Hakeem Olajuwon,” Antetokounmpo said. “I love his game and if I can kind of take a few things from his game or learn anything from the few days I’m going to spend with him it’s going to be a blessing.”
Known for his post moves and footwork, Olajuwon’s offensive prowess in the paint remains the gold standard.
Antetokounmpo and Olajuwon are two of three players in NBA history to win the MVP award and Defensive Player of the Year award in the same season. Michael Jordan is the only other player to accomplish the feat.
After undergoing a knee procedure in July, Antetokounmpo has been “quietly grinding all summer” as he prepares for his 11th NBA season.
