BOSTON (AP) — Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown has a broken bone in his face, the team confirmed on Thursday in an injury update that did not specify how long he will be out.

The Celtics said Brown will miss Friday night’s (7:30 ET, ESPN) game against Charlotte but provided no further details.

Brown left Wednesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers with a facial contusion after colliding with teammate Jayson Tatum under the basket.

Brown took an elbow on the left side of his face in the final minutes of the first half. He got up slowly and walked immediately to the locker room, rubbing his left temple.

The team announced at the start of the third quarter that he would not return. The short-handed Celtics defeated the Sixers 106-99 to solidify their hold on the top spot in the East.

The Celtics have four games remaining before the break and resume the remainder of the regular season on February 23.

Brown, who was named as an Eastern Conference reserve for the All-Star Game last week, is having a career season, averaging 26.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists through 48 games.
