In a classic case of famous last words, Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young made the unfortunate decision to crow “It’s over!” after feeding teammate Alex Len for a dunk that put his squad up by six over the Miami Heat with just 59.9 seconds remaining in Tuesday’s contest.
In most cases, it would have been. But the Hawks promptly allowed the Heat to force overtime with a pair of 3-pointers, then crumpled under the weight of 16 more unanswered points in the extra period. It all added up to a monster 22-0 surge, giving Miami an improbable 135-121 victory.
“Our energy was dead as soon as overtime started,” Young admitted. Heat star Jimmy Butler obviously noticed, taking to social media to do a little crowing of his own after the game.
On Instagram, Butler posted the clip of Young’s pass to Len with a caption of: “this man @traeyoung is a teller of the future. he was right. game WAS over!”
After the game, Young took to social media and acknowledged his mistake in a short tweet.
….Welp😐🤷🏽♂️😂

The Hawks used a 13-0 run to take an eight-point lead early in the fourth, before the Heat clawed back and eventually tied the game at 111-111 on a 3-pointer by Robinson with 3:11 left.
Atlanta scored the next four to reclaim the lead, Butler missed a pair of free throws with 1:18 left and then Len had his dunk on the next Hawks possession for a 117-111 lead.
The rest was all Heat.
