76ers' Danny Green suffers torn ACL in left knee

The veteran guard was also diagnosed with a torn LCL in the same knee.

Danny Green leaves Game 6 after suffering what was later revealed as a torn ACL.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green has suffered a torn ACL and torn LCL in his left knee, the team announced following an MRI on Friday.

Green suffered his injury in Thursday’s Game 6 against the Miami Heat, which the Sixers lost 99-90 to end their season. The 35-year-old veteran was helped off the floor after teammate Joel Embiid crashed into his leg three minutes into the game.

“Joel got to the rim,” Green said of the sequence leading to his injury. “I saw him lay it up. I don’t know if it went in or not. But I just remember him taking a tumble. I tried to move. I couldn’t get out fast enough. I tried to pull my leg out, but it got caught underneath me, and it rolled into it.

“I knew once it happened, I knew I wasn’t able to return to the game.”

Green averaged 8.6 points on 40.8% shooting from 3-point range during the postseason.
